The Onaga Historical Society and Museum

The Onaga Historical Society and Museum located in Onaga, Kansas is known for collecting, preserving, and teaching about local history and culture dating back to the 1850’s. The Museum complex includes three Exhibit Hall, a Union Pacific Caboose, a log cabin, a one room schoolhouse and WPA Privy, and more. In the exhibit halls a diverse collection of the past lifestyles of the area’s founding fathers, along with a military exhibit and a needlecraft exhibit.

The 150 members of the Onaga Historical Society have been utilizing the Save-A-Label program for the past five years by shopping at the Onaga Country Mart and saving their labels for cash. The amount they raise from Save-A-Label is essential for managing and running the non-profit in a small town.

“Our community has a population of 700,” said Deborah Berges who nominated the group. “Funds are tight in the community for donations so programs such as Save-A-Label allows our members, and our community, to fundraise for the Museum.”
