For more than 40 years, the Montgomery Country Senior Center in Montgomery City, MO., has aided the town’s seniors. The Senior Center serves 125 to 160 hot meals daily to seniors who come for lunch or those who receive a delivered meal. One of the people at the heart of the Senior Center is Ms. Vera Kolling.
Ms. Kolling has volunteered at the Senior Center for many years in a variety of capacities. Her jobs have included delivering meals to the homebound, helping cook, working the front desk, and serving on the board of directors. Ms. Kolling was even voted Prom Queen during the 2022 Senior Prom.
In recent years, Ms. Kolling took it upon herself to help with the Best Choice® Family of Brands label collection from products used in the Senior Center’s kitchen and from the community. She cuts them out, counts them, and prepares them to be sent off for rebate. “Everyone in the community loves Vera and is inspired by her service to others,” said Jill Burch, director of Montgomery County Senior Center. “Vera will be 96 this April, and her last batch of labels in February totaled 6,000 and weighed in at two pounds!”
